Differences in years

I understand that something changed in the 2004 model year Helix. What changes were made, and did those changes make the 2004 and newer Helixes a better value (all other things being equal) than, say, a 2002 model?

Is whatever parts changed exclusive to 2004 & newer years, or are parts from previous models still interchangeable? Such as: if a new design carb was added in 2004 can a carb from a prior model year be used? Or, if the timing was changed (to meet emissions standards) what/how was that done, did it improve performance, and can it be changed back?

Answer: The only changes Honda made to the Helix over its long run were improved emissions controls to meet new regulations and aluminum rims instead of steel for 1992. They also added the carburetor support bracket for the 2004-07 run. No year model is more exclusive than the other. The 2004 carburetor is the replacement for all model years. All of the model years have interchangeable parts some with the legendary 1985-88 Honda Elite CH250. The timing is controlled internally with the ICM and with leaner jets in the carburetor.
