Got back from the Dealer expo late last night. By far, (to me at least) the coolest news is the 2010 CFMOTO Fashion will be fuel injected!
We FINALLY got the local CFMOTO contract so I will be checking into retrofitting my 87 HH with fuel injection. That's as much as I know
right now but I'm pretty excited for our 2 feet of snow to melt and get our 1st FI Fashion!
Will keep everyone updated.

Thanks for posting. I am interested. Admittedly, I'm very happy with my Helix. I'm not one of those folks who feels the need to 'improve' a good thing. But on paper, at least, I've always thought that FI could only improve the Helix. It should help with cold morning starts, possible better gas mileage, and maybe maybe maybe a slight boost to HP.
Let us know. _________________ Bear

Are you going to try to obtain parts for the retrofit or a complete engine assembly. I am interested in how this goes. |

I'm going to see about what all is involved in replacing the carb with FI.
My goal is to make it as cheap...errrr.....as cost effective as possible. They won't hit our shores for at least a month but rest assured I will photograph and document the heck out of the process.
I'm reserving one of the first Fashion FI's to hit our shores and will keep my peeps here abreast of all developments.

Chinese fuel injection though - given the fundamental lack of quality control in Chinese scooter manufacturing, have you considered how reliable or safe this sort of installation is likely to be? |

The CFmoto seems to be a step up from the general chinese product.
Will have to wait and see. |

I have never seen a fuel injected vehicle give better gas milage than a properly sized carborator, even rear wheel drive which is much more fuel economic than front wheel drive. It has been my experience with 4 wheel vehicles that fuel injection costs anywhere between depending on thedrive configuration between 7 and 25 miles per gallon. Believe me I'm tight as they come and I was devastated when they started going to fuel injection and front wheel drive the end of fuel economy. Back during the early 80's after the oil embargo Toyota brought out the Starlet, a little 4 cylinder inline compact that was an engineering marvel. It had more interior and trunk space than any modern car I have seen. It had enough room in the engine compartment you could almost crawl inside and take a nap, and on top of all that it got 50mpg something only the modern hybids can acheive with front wheel drive. Talk about creating a Rub Goldberg contraption that is what I see modern technology doing to the trasprotation industry. If it keeps going the way it has been even the dealers mechanics will be left in the dust. Power this and power that and sensors that rely on other sensors. It has gotten to the point you buy a new car and if you don't have the junk yard haul it of at the end of 10 years you can't in all good concience sell the peice of s--- to anyone without a guily concience.

I wonder if the clone panels just plug right onto a Helix. I have damage to the front panels I'll need/want to replace eventually. _________________ 2008 Stella & 2004 Helix |

I believe that they do. Hopefully someone who's done it can chime in. But my understanding is all but a few engine parts should be plug n play. _________________ Bear
