Late to the party but I had the exact same thing happen to mine. I ended up swapping out the CDI and my problem was resolved. If you buy a new CDI, be sure and verify whether or not yours is AC or DC fired. The earlier models were AC fired.

So earlier CDI versions were AC but how do you actually determine whether the CDI is AC or DC?

Where do we get all this misinformation? Some Honda Helix CDIs were DC some were AC? Really?

Only if you get a non-Honda chinese clone CDI do you need to know if its an AC or DC.

All OEM Honda Helix CDIs were AC. Start the bike, then pull the negative battery cable off. If it is AC, It will continue to run. The pulse generator is giving it AC. If it is DC, it will die. The battery is not giving it DC supply.

Problem fixed!!!

Thanks to all who helped guide me in the right direction to solve this non running Helix. I bought a new CDI from Honda. Not cheap, but I really haven't put much money in this bike. Anyway, plugged in the new box and saw fuel pumping right away. Hooked up the lines and it fired right up. I have almost everything put back together and am planning on a test ride tomorrow.

To all, thanks again!! I hope I have contributed in a small way when others have this problem.

Thanks for the update. Very helpful and I'll remember if I have fuel pump issues in the future.

What To Hoard For Your CN250

Postby zozman » Sat May 25, 2019 9:26 am

Thank you for the update on the resolution of your fuel pump issue. The CDI was the last suspect in the equation.

Speaking of the CDI, I wrote a Tech Tip for the Honda CH 250 Group "What to Hoard For Your CH250". In it I listed several items that an owner who plans on keeping his Elite running should have in his parts bin because Honda has discontinued those parts.

The Honda OEM CDI-30410-KM1-008-is one of those that fits the 1986-87 and 1996-97 Helix CN250. Those odd-ball Helix years do not have the side stand interrupt switch at all or one that is wired though the CDI like the 1988 Elite CH250.

If I was an owner of those Helix models, I'd get that rare CDI while I could.
