honda ch80 elite

There may be a better place for this post but everyone has been so helpful with my Helix problems and I am so desparate with this scooter I thought I would try here.
I have a ch80, it will crank well and run well up to about 30 mph,
then if given more throttle it just dies out loses power, back off the throttle to 30 mph and she runs happily.
Please give me any guess or thought you may have.

My first thought is that the fuel mixture could be off. There could also be a vacuum leak. Check all hoses, the intake tube and manifold.

I have checked for vac leaks, changed out the fuel hose and fuel tank vac hose, verified fuel flow, cleaned the carb. I'm at a loss.......

It's been so long since I owned an 80cc that I forget if there's a fuel filter in the system, but if there is, that sounds like a symptom of a (partially!) clogged-up fuel filter.

It seems you have a fuel delivery problem as the engine is not getting the the extra gas at high speeds. If you have a strong fuel flow, the next thing before the engine is the carb. If you cleaned the carb, checked the jets again. If fuel is flowing, and you are cruising nicely at lower speeds, somewhere in the carb is preventing the needed extra gas at higher speeds. I could not find a solution to a similar problem and I eventually had to get another carb and fuel pump. Good luck.

Take apart your carburetor and clean your jets with carb cleaner, you may have a restriction clogging the main jet. If that fixes the problem, change out your fuel filter.

The gasket set to rebuild your carburetor is $26.36. The autobystarter is $78.16. Nothing to file clean the jets. Just spraying them with carburetor cleaner will not do. A new carburetor from Honda is relatively cheap, $144.82. If it were me, I'd just buy the OEM Honda carburetor.

But, for the money, this is not a bad carburetor.

I've had a couple CH80s and there is no fuel filter in the line. That's the first think I added to them, as it's nuts to think that some junk isn't going to end up in the tank... and the carb shortly thereafter. I'm betting that you have something in the main jet. If it is what I remember, the bowl will come off with just a couple screws. There are 2 jets, one for low speed (idle and up to 1/4 throttle) and the main that the throttle needle goes into from the top. I think that will be your culprit. Remove it, then blow/spray it out from the top down so that you don't impact the dirt up in their further. You should see light thru it with no blockage.
