Honda Gyro?

Postby Cincycaddy » Thu Feb 16, 2012 2:10 pm

Honda Gyro popped up for sale $600 1300 miles. I have zero experience with these but am aware that they are a 50cc two stroke. Wife is going to kill be for thinking about picking it up as I kept the last bike I told her I was gonna buy and then sell : ) Anyway anyone have any first hand experience? Seems that it is a 2 speed auto. Hoping it has a title. Want to convince her it would make a good first bike for her to ride so she can use the Gyro and I can use my 1965 Honda C100

I passed -front and rear body work has been painted blue - rare model = parts hard to come by and I would like an all original scoot.

$600 for one? I'd have grabbed it for that. They are usually $1000+... down south here anyway. I doubt the panels would have cost $400 to buy.

They only do about like a Spree (maybe slower since it's a trike) but they look awesome and I bet are a blast to ride.

But then again, I am more into to 50-125cc bikes. I could only ride a Helix or other large bike as a trike... they are too heavy for me. I tried the Helix without the trike kit and it felt like it was trying to pull me down constantly (side to side) which felt unsafe to me. I couldn't go much faster than 45-50 on a curve of any kind (even a HUGE curve) without feeling unsafe.

With the trike kit, I felt completely safe and could maintain (safe) higher speeds even on curves without any problems.

If the bike had been all original I would have jumped on it but I didn't want one to ride, mostly just wanted it for the collection :)

I'd love to get a "non chinese made" 250 cc trike scooter. I'd love if the Gyro would have come out with a 250 sized engine.

I have a 1984 model in my shop right now. I'm refurbing it for a guy in North Carolina. Basically a Spree with a third wheel. Very interesting little scoot!
